My STORY COULD BE YOURS↓

On April 9th, 2024, I tore my Achilles playing pickleball. I kept saying, “Pray I don’t need surgery,” hoping to avoid it. But when I saw the doctor, he told me, “Deryck, you need surgery. Without it, you’ll walk with a limp for life, but with it, you’ll be stronger than before.”

That moment gave birth to Achilles Leadership. It wasn’t just a diagnosis—it was a revelation. I saw leadership through a new lens. My recovery became a metaphor for leadership, and what started as a setback turned into a blessing.  

The reality is we all have an “Achilles heel” of some sort; it might be a hidden weakness or perhaps an unguarded strength. Like me, many avoid the “surgery” they need to help it or heal it. Achilles Leadership is all about surgically addressing these areas so you can eventually make what’s wrong…strong!

Through intentional coaching, we’ll assess, address, and help you progress, just as the doctor told me, “We have to do the surgery, Deryck.” That was the start of my healing, and today could be the start of yours. That’s what Achilles Leadership is all about.

  • CONSULT This phase is like your first visit to a doctor’s office. It’s where we help you understand what we offer and whether we’re the right fit for you. We provide an overview of our system and answer any questions before you begin the journey. It’s your orientation to Achilles Leadership!
  • PRE-OP Here, the “Surgical Leadership” process begins. You’ll meet your coach and develop a personalized coaching strategy. This meeting will cover key details like costs, commitment length, communication systems, and scheduling. You’ll come away with a clear plan for the journey ahead. This is a one-time meeting.
  • Post-OP At this stage, you’ll have identified your Achilles heel and learned how to strengthen it. You’ll have the knowledge, but now it’s time to build true strength. This step includes a one-time meeting to discuss the next phase of your leadership journey.
  • FOLLOW-UP After completing the process, we ensure you stay on track with a follow-up session. This is a check-in to confirm that you’re still applying what you’ve learned and continuing on your path to progress. Think of it as a check-up to make sure your progress is sustained.

  • EVAL Think of this as getting an X-ray—this is where we assess whether we can help you find your “Achilles heel.” Using custom tools, we gather insights to ensure we’re set to begin the “Surgical Leadership” process. This step is brief and typically takes 0–2 weeks, depending on your response time. There is a small fee for this evaluation (around $100).
  • OP This phase sets Achilles Leadership apart. You’ll work with your Surgical Leadership Coach to uncover the single issue that can bring about the greatest transformation. We find the pain point here. Once we’ve addressed it, we’ll create a plan to strengthen that area and build surrounding strengths. This process is the secret to achieving maximum impact. It usually takes 6–12 months, depending on the relational nature of the work.
  • P.T This phase mirrors physical therapy after surgery. We call it holistic integration, where we help you fully develop the strengths you’ve uncovered. The goal is to stop leading with a limp and start leading with confidence and strength. The commitment varies depending on each leader’s progress.
